Frequently Asked Questions about Online Therapy
Is online therapy effective for eating disorders?
Research indicates that evidence-based psychological treatments, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E), can be delivered effectively online for many individuals. Online therapy may be a helpful option for some people, and suitability is carefully considered on an individual basis before treatment begins.
Who delivers the therapy?
All therapy is provided by experienced, fully qualified clinicians who are part of the Oxford Centre for Eating Disorders. The same clinical standards apply to our online work as to our in-person services.
Is online therapy suitable for everyone?
Online therapy is not suitable for everyone. During an initial consultation, we will take time to understand your circumstances and explore whether online therapy is likely to be appropriate and supportive for you at this time.
What does online therapy involve?
Online therapy sessions take place via a secure video platform at an agreed time. Treatment follows a structured and collaborative approach, with sessions tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Do you work with people outside the UK?
Yes. We offer online therapy to individuals based across the UK and internationally, provided that online treatment is clinically appropriate.
How do I get started?
You are welcome to get in touch to arrange a complimentary 20-minute consultation. This offers an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for and to explore whether our service may be a good fit for you.
